History
It all started in 1981 with a small shop in the old city centre of Utrecht.
Here
paper, cardboard, cards and envelopes in more than 100 colours were sold.
The price was determined by the weight.
In 1982 the first steps were taken towards the wholesale trade after which in 1983 the first presentation took place at the TradeMart of the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.
At
the fair we started with a compact synthetic display and a limited paper series.
It did not take long for the paper series to expand and with that also the display programme. New series were introduced like paper and envelopes suited for inkjet printing. The display programm was altered as well, we changed from synthetic displays to new wooden (durable) cabinets.
Not only the choice of materials changed. The synthetic display programm had a fixed interior, the newly developed wooden cabinets were modular and therefore could be composed according to customers wishes. In 2000 a cabinet programm was added, the Box-system, consisting of very compact modules by which a Box-presentation is easily extendible.
From 1990 export started. The name “De Papieren Regenboog”
gradually changed into the more international sounding name “Papicolor”.
Meanwhile export takes place to 12 countries.
